Overview

Tarangire National Park is one of the most rewarding day-trip safaris from Arusha, especially in the dry season (June-October) when the park's elephant population is at its peak. The Tarangire River runs through the centre of the park, drawing wildlife from across the surrounding ecosystem. Expect huge elephant herds, lion prides resting under sausage trees, and the park's iconic ancient baobabs.

Green Shoulder

Good
Nov – Dec

Lush landscapes, birding is exceptional, brief afternoon showers possible. Excellent value pricing on day trips.

Long Rains

Avoid
Mar – May

Cultural day trips run year-round. Game-drive day trips are less productive due to dispersed wildlife and muddy tracks.
