Day-by-Day Itinerary

5:00 AM: Very early hotel pickup in Arusha for the drive west to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (approx. 3.5 hours including stops). Optional brief stop at Olduvai Gorge museum en route (the 'Cradle of Mankind'). 8:30 AM: Arrive at the crater rim. Park registration, then descend the steep access road 600m to the crater floor. 9:00 AM: Private game drive across the caldera floor - linger as long as you like at each sighting. Black rhino, lion, elephant, buffalo, zebra and flamingo all packed into 260 sq km. 12:30 PM: Picnic lunch at the hippo pool with the crater walls towering on every side. 1:30 PM: Continue the private game drive at your own pace. 3:30 PM: Ascend the access road. 4:00 PM: Begin the drive back to Arusha. 8:00 PM: Drop-off at your hotel.
