Day-by-Day Itinerary

5:00 AM: Very early hotel pickup in Arusha for the drive west to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (approx. 3.5 hours including stops). 8:30 AM: Arrive at the crater rim. Park registration, then descend the steep access road 600m to the crater floor. 9:00 AM: Game drive across the caldera floor - black rhino, massive-tusked elephant bulls, lion prides, dense plains game and pink-flocked Lake Magadi. 12:30 PM: Picnic lunch at the hippo pool. 1:30 PM: Continue the game drive, often with a chance to see fresh kills as predators are most active. 3:00 PM: Ascend the access road back to the rim. Optional brief stop at the crater viewpoint. 4:00 PM: Begin the drive back to Arusha. 8:00 PM: Drop-off at your hotel.
