You'll trek through pristine montane rainforest on the western slopes - the most beautiful forest on the mountain - and onto the lower edge of the Shira Plateau (approximately 3,500m). Strong fitness required.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

5:30 AM: Very early hotel pickup in Moshi or Arusha for the long transfer to Londorossi Gate on the western flank of Kilimanjaro (approx. 3 hours). 8:30 AM: Park registration and gear check at the gate. Drive 30 minutes further to the trailhead on a rough track. 9:30 AM: Begin the trek through pristine montane rainforest - colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, towering camphorwood. 11:30 AM: Climb up through the heather zone with first views of Kibo. 12:30 PM: Reach the lower edge of the Shira Plateau (approx. 3,500m) for a picnic lunch with sweeping views. 1:30 PM: Begin the descent back to the trailhead via the same trail. 3:30 PM: Reach the trailhead. Drive back to Moshi/Arusha. 7:30 PM: Drop-off at your hotel.
